Christmas in July – 2020

Its officially July which means its the month of my second favorite holiday – Christmas in July! There is no set day to celebrate, which means the party can go all month long; nothing wrong with that. 2020 has been a crazy year for everyone, so it can be difficult to plan ahead because if this year has taught us anything it would be to expect the unexpected. We never know what tomorrow will bring, but its important to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Having a Christmas in July celebration is the perfect way to get yourself in the spirit and excited for Christmas, but to also be a few steps ahead, so your holiday can be as stress free as possible. Let’s start planning; t-minus five months!

First things first is the gifts. Everyone knows that at Christmas time, we give gifts, whether they be store bought or homemade. Of course Black Friday and other holiday shopping adds to the merriment of the season, but July is a good time to start browsing sales and make homemade gifts. My mom is extremely crafty, so growing up we had always made our school & church teacher’s Christmas gifts. We would make them in July, so they they were ready for the holidays. Some homemade gift ideas to get started on are, cards, crafts, blankets, and monogrammed pieces. When it comes to store bought gifts, keep an eye out for sales and promotions from different retailers. Here are some links to stores offering Christmas in July sales!

One other thing to start planning now, would be your family vacation. Christmas vacations hold some of the best memories, so ensuring its well prepared for is imperative. Start planning where you want to go, what you want to do, and where you want to stay. The earlier you book, the cheaper the prices. Some dates may not be posted as early as July, but its worth the look. Also, aside from vacations, if there are specific holiday events you want to attend start looking for those dates, such as concerts and seasonal attractions.

As for what I did today to get even more in the Christmas spirit (because I always am) I put on my favorite movie, The Polar Express, drank a big cup of hot chocolate and made some of the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Way too excited for Santa to get here; 166 more days!!

XOXO, Delaney
