Can you believe we’re only one hundred days out until the big day?! Just a few short months until we gather around our trees and spend the best day of the year with our family and friends. I have always loved Christmas, but as I have gotten older, my love for Christmas has only gotten bigger. Between the sparkling lights and the good spirits of others, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
With that being said, the purpose of my blog is to help all of you prepare ahead of time, so that you can be in the moment and enjoy all that the beautiful holiday season has to offer. I’ve put together a list of things to do to prepare you now so that you aren’t overwhelmed once the holidays come.
September
- Make a list of gift recipients
- Make a budget
- In your budget be sure to include shipping gifts to out of town friends, buying gifts for white elephant parties, and for charity donations
- Make a list of Christmas card recipients; get any addresses you don’t have & buy stamps
- Make a list of stocking stuffers
- Make a list of gift ideas
- Buy holiday event tickets (concerts, theme parks, sporting events, etc.)
October
- Get Christmas card inspiration
- Make the homemade gifts
- Make arrangements for service projects
- Plan Christmas parties (guests, games, food, etc.)
- Write down children’s & friends’ clothing sizes
- Address & stamp Christmas card envelopes
November
- Start shopping
- Order Christmas cards at the beginning of November to have them ready to send out by the end of the month
- Plan out December activities & advent calendar
- Buy holiday craft supplies
- Send invites for Christmas parties
- Make and freeze cookie dough ahead of time for your holiday baking
- Buy holiday baking ingredients since they have a long shelf life; baking chips always sell out fast!
- Stock up on wrapping paper, bows, ribbon, to/from tags, boxes, and tape
- Send out Christmas cards the day after Thanksgiving
December
- Decorate the house
- Finish shopping
- Wrap gifts
- Mail out of town gifts
- Holiday baking
- Make a menu for Christmas dinner
- Enjoy the holidays
I hope this brief list helps you start to prepare for the holiday season; it’ll be here before we know it!! If you need ideas for Christmas activities & service projects, I have another blog post coming in the next few weeks, so stay posted for that!
