Fall Fashion – FL Edition

Okay, let’s be real, we all love fall, but if you live in the south, dressing for the season seems impossible. We want to wear sweaters and leggings and over the knee boots, but in reality its still 90 degrees outside. Soooo, how do we dress for fall without dying from a heat stroke? The answer is by wearing transition pieces until its cool enough for the classic fall pieces. When we think of fall, the general color scheme is orange, brown, dark yellows and greens; very muted and dull colors. Lucky for us, many transition pieces fit the fall color scheme. Transition pieces are the clothes that help transition from one season to the next. Going from summer to fall the typical transition clothes are tanks, light weight dresses, and shorts – all the clothes you wear in the summer, but now in muted colors and slightly heavier material. Nothing bothers me more than when I am dressed out of season. I want to be able to wear fall clothes, but I also want to be comfortable while living in the Florida heat.

I stopped in Target the other day, and picked up a few different pieces to style for fall while still trying to stay cool.

I saw this dress hanging on the rack, and thought it was perfect. Its so comfortable and the material is very lightweight. Because it is short sleeve, it makes it easy to carry into the later fall season with a cardigan or coat. The olive green color is a staple for fall, and I just paired it with snake skin booties and mixed metal jewelry; a very easy (and comfortable) look. And it has pockets, which is always a bonus!

The other thing I bought at Target was this leopard print top. Aside from sparkles, leopard print anything is totally my vibe, and lucky for us, it is currently trending for fall. Again, the goal is to be dressed in season without sweating buckets. So, because this is a tshirt, it makes things easy. Pairing it with dark wash or black jeans makes it more in season, but also elevates the whole look by making the the print and the color of the shirt stand out more. With this look, I also threw on some ankle booties because to be honest, they are not much different than sneakers in terms of being too hot.

There are so many ways to dress for fall in the south, but the main things to remember are to stay in the color scheme and buy lightweight pieces. All of the clothing above is linked on the shop tab of my blog!
